Today held
much potential instability, but a
huge cap on the sounding and some
high level cloud drifting in from
the west during the arvo put a
stop to things until later in the day. Towards the end of the arvo,
activity started firing to the NW
of Brisbane, with steering winds
guiding them SE, but they
collapsed before getting to the
southern suburbs.
Around
8:20pm a couple of larger cells
around Marburg & Mulgowie
looked to be heading towards
Beaudesert.

So we took
off down Beaudesert Rd and
stopped around Cedar Vale.
A crop
of the first image above:

The cloud
to ground lightning didn't last
long after we arrived and the
system soon became a large area
of rain.
