I didn't
expect much today so a couple of
lightning shots was a nice
surprise.
The day
started out quite hot. Brisbane
only reached a top of 32.7° but
the story was different in our
back yard. Some radiant heat from
the house possibly contributed:

In the
afternoon a large cluster of
storms took off along the border
ranges from Coolangatta to
Warwick. Leaving it too late, I
headed south to see a few anvil
crawlers, but it basically died
as I approached. This is from
around Pimpama where some very
light mammatus was visible:
On my way
north again a cell popped up out
of nowhere on the radar near
Gatton. Being close to the Logan
Mwy and with nothing better to
do, I took off west and hoped for
the best. The sunset was lovely
at 100 kmh.
This cell
lasted longer than I thought and
actually ended up becoming two
cells. I stopped between Marburg
and Gatton for some lightning.
And crops
of the lightning:
It was
getting away from me and heading
WNW so I eventually gave chase
again. Unfortunately, it died
before I got to a better spot and
I turned around just past Gatton. Some
weak activity developed further W
near Dalby but I decided it was
too far to bother.
