Hi, I'm Marty Pouwelse and I'm a professional wedding photographer servicing Brisbane & SE Queensland.

Price

I believe in being up front and open about costs, so here they are first. I offer two base wedding photography packages: $1200 for 3 hours or $2000 for 6 hours. Extra hours on top of either package are available at $300 per hour. Three hours generally covers the wedding ceremony, family and wedding party photos and usually a mock cake cutting. The typical six hour package covers the bride getting ready, pre-ceremony bridal (and possibly groom) shots, the ceremony, family and wedding party photos, mock cake cutting, and the start of the reception. The timing will depend on your own timetable, and I am flexible about when I start. For example, if you're happy with a particular amount of time but would like me to start a little later and leave a little later, that's fine. This all-inclusive cost also covers a lengthy post production process.

All photos on a disc

I generally don't provide an album or prints, however you do receive the full-resolution photos on a disc.

Supplying you with all the high-res photographs from your wedding allows you to print whichever photos you like, wherever you like, whenever you like. This frees you up to spend as much or as little on the printing as you want, with no extra markup going to the photographer. There are also many online book services available (I'm happy to recommend the one I use) allowing you to create a professional bound hard-cover 'album' of your wedding day, without me charging you a premium for it. Many people now prefer the freedom of designing and creating their album themselves.

On the other hand, if you'd prefer not to worry about the printing, I can design and deliver a high quality photobook or arrange for your professionally bound wedding album.

I also supply smaller versions of your images which you can email to friends and family.

Style

I love big bold colour and I use special lighting to achieve this, especially around sunset. I like wide angles and using dramatic landscapes where possible, but without neglecting the more traditional styles. I'm happy to cover as much or as little of the day as you like. If I cover the reception I make an effort to photograph everyone there and focus on capturing the 'party' nature of the occasion. My ultimate aim is to not only create a memorable record of your wedding day, but to produce some beautiful, interesting and creative portraits as well.

Overall we both thought you were brilliant on the day... We were very impressed that you stuck around longer than we anticipated afterwards when we were all seated and felt that we were never pushed or rushed... We were glad you seemed to just adapt to our personalities and seemed to do a great job figuring out the right photos without us giving you much to go by!!! ... Matt and I both love how you have really brought the photos to life with the emphasis on the colour and a lot of people also commented on that as well... We thought the price was really reasonable as well after hearing what other people paid and their horror stories! ... We were joking on our honeymoon that you would be good to take along to take some great honeymoon photos!

We liked: (A) the fun approach to the photos. I have heard so many brides complain about forcing smiles all day. Our smiles were true smiles and while our faces hurt we were having fun and enjoying the moment. Michelle and yourself relaxed the mood and encouraged our personalities to come through; (B) your recommendations on positioning and direction given when trying to achieve quality photos; and (C) your movement throughout the day.
